Objective: To explore the influence of video game experience with different involvement levels on the ability of resistance to distraetor interference, which is a sub-component of the inhibition function. Methods: According to the investigation of the Video Game Basic Situation Questionnaire and Young's Internet Addiction Diagnostic Questionnaire and Internet Addiction Test, the selected participants were divided into three groups including none video game player(NVGP), none video game addiction(NVGA) and video game addition(VGA), which included 18 members for each group. And then we compared the abilities of the resistance to distractor interference among three groups according to their performances of the Ebhinghaus illusion task. Results: (1)All groups of participants were observed obvious Ebbinghaus illusion effect. (2) The illusion effect was significantly greater for VGA than NVGA and NVGP, but comparable for NVGA and NVGP. Conclusion: Appropriate video game experience has no effect on game-player' s ability of resistance to distractor interference, but excessive video game experience (i.e., video game addition) impairs such ability of the game-players. The results suggest that the impact of video game experience on the inhibition function at perceptual level is modulated by the game involvement levels of the game-players.
