摘要
本文旨在以非典型性"把"字句——"把/将NP一V"句为切入点,以中国古典文学名著《红楼梦》以及霍克斯和杨宪益的两个英译本为语料,借助平行语料库对《红楼梦》中"把/将NP一V"句的英译文进行对比研究,从而找出两位译者的翻译异同以及此类句式的翻译规律,为这类句式的英译提供借鉴。本文最终得出以下结论:"把/将NP一V"句多译为SVO结构;在"A把/将B+C一V"句式的英译上,两位译者的译文大致趋同。表示方位意义的C多通过介词来表示,或都译为具有隐性方位意义的动词。不同之处在于,在句式的选择上,霍克斯的译文更加灵活多样,霍译文中将NP作为句子的主语就是一个很好的体现;翻译策略上霍译文多处采用适当增译,使得译文生动具体、情感饱满;最后霍译文也借用"a"将这一句式中的"一"一定程度上再现了出来。
A comparative study of an unconventional“Ba(把)”Structure-“Ba(把)/Jiang(将)NP Yi(-)V”in two English versions of A Dream of Red Mansions translated respectively by David Hawkes and Yang Xianyi will be carried out on the basis of parallel corpus,so as to find the similarities and the regular patterns in dealing with this structure as well as to shed some light on the translation of this structure. The final conclusions are:SVO finds its frequent expression in two translators’ English versions;in the translation of“A Ba(把)/Jiang(将)B+C Yi(-)V”,these two versions are roughly the same.“C”,which indicates location,is always conveyed through prepositions or verbs implying location.The differences are that Hawkes’s translation shows a flexibility in the choosing of sentence structure,as evidenced by translating NP as the subject;in terms of translating strategies,the abundant and appropriate use of amplification makes Hawkes’version vivid and concrete and rich in emotion; finally,to a certain degree, by din of“a”,Hawkes’s version realizes the equivalence of Yi (-)in the original structure.
