Exploring Native-speakerism in EFL Textbooks in China

摘要 At present,in China,most EFL textbooks are dominated by inner circle norms.This dominance may fail to address the increasing need of developing students’multilingual negotiating abilities outside the inner-circle countries(Canagarajah,2006a),which makes students unprepared for the globalized context and postmodern discourses.Facing the tendency,how hegemony position of inner circle norms dominate English textbooks in the Chinese EFL classroom is analyzed here and some pedagogical implications to cultivate students’multilingual awareness are drawn so as to develop their multilingual competence in face of nativespeakerism surrounding the teaching materials and ELT pedagogy.
