As a famous prescription for resolving phlegm, Wendan decoction is commonly used in internal medicine diseases, and it is a typical example of "treating different disease with same method". "Different diseases and the same treatment" means that "If different diseases have the syndrome differentiation are the same and can be treated by the same method". This theory is one of the specific methods that embody the characteristics of TCM syndrome differentiation and treatment. Phlegm is not only a pathological product, but also a pathogenic factor. Many causes can lead to phlegm. Where phlegm stays, diseases often occur. The lung is a device for storing phlegm, and phlegm and phlegm-fire can also cover the heart and brain. The Wendan decoction is one of the prescriptions for expelling phlegm and is derived from Erchen decoction. The main mechanism of action of Wendan decoction is reducing phlegm and adjusting the qi. This prescription has the effect of regulating qi and resolving phlegm and promoting stomach and gallbladder. Professor LI Jinglin has a long-term experience and a significant effect in the clinical application of Wendan decoction in the treatment of systemic diseases such as heart, brain and lung caused by turbid internal disturbances. Therefore, the application of Wendan decoction in heart, brain and lung diseases is discussed based on the theory of "treating different disease with same method".
