Objective To explore the clinical effect of respiratory rehabilitation exercise in treating elderly patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD). Methods 81 elderly COPD patients treated in our hospital were randomly divided into two groups, of which 40 patients in the routine group were treated with routine clinical treatment and 41 cases in the rehabilitation group were treated with respiratory rehabilitation exercise on the basis of the routine group. The cardiopulmonary function and life quality of the two groups were compared. Results After treatment, the forced lung activity(FVC) of the rehabilitation group was higher than that of the conventional group, P〈0.05. The maximum motor power(Wmax), maximum oxygen uptake(VO2 max) and the oxygen pulse(O2 Pulse) level of the rehabilitation group were higher than those of the routine group, but the HRR level of the rehabilitation group was lower than that of the routine group, P〈0.05. After treatment, the respiratory reserve(BR), the maximum minute lung ventilation(VEmax) and the maximum tidal volume(VTmax) level of the rehabilitation group were higher than those of the routine group, P〈0.05,and the life quality of the rehabilitation group was better than that of the routine group, P〈0.05. Conclusion Breathing rehabilitation exercise can significantly improve cardiopulmonary function, enhance exercise endurance, improve clinical symptoms and life quality of elderly patients with COPD.
