In order to explore the physiological response of Platycladus orientalis under cadmium stress, different levels of CdCl2 concentrations (50, 100,200, 300,400 and 500μmmol/L) are set up by water culture method to treat P. Orientalis seedlings in this study, and relevant physiological and biochemical indexes are determined. The results show that ( 1 ) the chlorophyll content in the leaves of P. Orientalis showed a trend of fall after rise. (2) The activity of superoxide dismutase and soluble sugar content is significantly increased, while the soluble protein content decreases significantly. When CdCl2 concentration is 200μmmol/L, the physiological indexes of P. Orientalis are lower than other stress concentrations. The above resuhs show that P. Orientalis can adapt to cadmium stress at a certain concentration by increasing the content of osmotic regulatory substances and the accumulation of enzymes or non - enzymatic substances related to scavenging free radicals of reactive oxygen species.
