Octavia Butler＇s Parable of the Sower imagines the social crisis caused by the future ecological disaster, and depicts a horrible picture of the dystopian future. The walled Robledo neighborhoods are rigid and insular, representing conservative, male localism. When this closed community is destroyed, Lauren, the heroine of the novel, is inspired by her belief system Earthseed, leading people to create a new kind of mobile community in the end of natural disasters and social chaos. Butler reminds us of the gloomy future that ecological disaster and transnational capital can bring, and also brings a ray of hope and bright color to our future through the actions of Lauren.
