摘要
通过自我对质法研究了粤西本地两所高校7名英语外籍教师身份认同的特征及影响因素。研究结果表明他们的身份认同可以分成自主成功型、无力孤独型和坚强融合型三种类型。其中自主成功型身份认同主要强调个人专业教学技能的成长而一定程度上忽略了与学生的互动交流,其教学效度有所降低;无力孤独型身份认同由于所属文化对其影响而缺乏加入新共同体的主观能动性,从而在教学等方面无法形成有效的动力;坚强融合型身份认同以个人与群体关系为首要关注焦点,积极融入教学团队和学生等新合作共同体中,所以能产生较高的教学效度。针对以上发现,建议高校可以通过前期调研和有效交流平台的建立,再结合竞争机制使外籍教师发挥应有作用,从而为学校发展贡献力量。
A study of seven foreign teachers in two local universities is carried out with Self-Confronted Method( SCM) to analyze the different types of identity and reasons of its formation. The research shows that there are three types of identities,including the type of autonomy and success,the type of powerlessness and isolation,and the type of strength and unity. The foreign teachers with the identity type of autonomy and success mainly focus on the development of individual professional teaching skill but ignore the interaction with students,thus downgrading the pedagogic value. The foreign teachers with the identity type of powerlessness and isolation lack the motivation to blend in the new group due to the influence by native culture,therefore it fails to create effective motivation in teaching and other fields. The foreign teacher with the identity type of strength and unity takes the relationship between individual and group as the prime consideration with self-motivated blending in the teaching group and students,so it produces higher pedagogic value. Based on the finding above,it is suggested that universities should carry out researches about the profiles of the foreign teachers and training about the profession knowledge and daily life. What's more,it is necessary to set up a platform of communication such as Reception Day,to enhance the sense of belonging among the foreign teachers,together with the competitive mechanism,which explores the foreign teachers potential and enables them to play an part in the development of the universities.
