摘要
信息理论(IT)是一门对数据进行操作的学科,如压缩,存储和通信,并以克劳德·香农出版题为"数学通信理论"论文的时间--1948年作为该学科的创立时间。通过信息理论基础知识的学习,获得对信息和不确定性测量等知识,例如互信息,熵和相对熵,对于从神经科学到机器学习等各领域的学生,研究人员和从业者来说都将是无价的。《信息论》课程数学公式较多,内容较抽象、难吸收。与国内本科生相比,海外留学生来自多个国家,普遍数学基础薄弱,学生之间基础参差不齐。加之文化不同,学习习惯和方法也和中国的学生不同。针对上述问题,构建教学做主导式的教学模式和多元化的教学方法,改变课程原有的传统教学理念和教学组织形式,激发留学生的学习兴趣,形成新的、与实际接轨的教学方法。
Information theory(IT)is the science of operations on data such as compression,storage,and communication.It is among the few disciplines fortunate to have a precise date of birth:1948,with the publication of Claude E.Shannon's paper entitled A Mathematical Theory of Communication.Learning through the information theory fundamentals,the intimate acquaintance that we will gain with measures of information and uncertainty-such as mutual information,entropy,and relative entropy-would be invaluable also for students,researchers,and practitioners in fields ranging from neuroscience to machine learning.There are many mathematical formulas in the"Information Theory"curriculum,and the content is more abstract and difficult to absorb.Compared with domestic undergraduates,overseas students come from many countries,and the general mathematics foundation is weak,and the students'basics are uneven.In addition to different cultures,learning habits and methods are different from those of Chinese students.To solve the above problems,we construct teaching-oriented teaching models and diversified teaching methods,change the original traditional teaching concepts and teaching organization forms of the courses,stimulate foreign students'interest in learning,and form new and practical teaching methods.
