Based on Williamson’s transaction cost theory, this paper discusses the impact of transaction characteristics on contract selection between agricultural cooperatives and peasant households, and finds that membership characteristics play a moderating role in it. The results show that asset specificity, risk and scale have a significant impact on the degree of integration between agricultural cooperatives and peasant households. Among them, specificity has a positive impact on the degree of integration of contracts, while risk and scale have a greater impact with the negative impact. However, compared with non-members, shareholder identity makes more positive effect of asset specificity on signing a higher degree of integration contracts, and makes less negative effect of risk and scale on signing a higher degree of integration contracts, that is, shareholder identity as a moderator variable plays a significant role.
