Soon after the Ming Dynasty was found,a suzerain-vassal relationship between Ming and Korean Peninsula was established. In particular, the new Chosun Kingdom not only offered tributes regularly to Ming, but also paid special tributes every now and then in addition,a part of which was“Huozhe.”“Huozhe”largely refers to castrated slaves and servants. After being transported to Ming as tributes, they became eunuch. Some of them were even appointed as Ming's envoies to Chosun, who played a crucial role in early bilateral contact and exchanges between Ming and Chosun. In view of their multiple and complicated identities, these Eunuch-Envoies from Chosun displayed unique characteristics and represented a special episode in the history of Sino-Korean relations.
