Objective To summarize the experience of using modified medium length catheter in parenteral nutrition patients and provide technical guidance for clinical infusion therapy. Methods The data of 322 patients who were implemented with improved midline catheters from February to October in 2017 in gastrointestinal surgery of some Chongqing hospital were reviewed and analyzed. The length, time consumption and indwelling time of the catheter, and complications and comfort of patients were statistically analyzed. Results One-time puncture success rate was up to 100%,and the catheter length was 22~28(26.7±0.9) centimeters, time consumption was 20~65(37.9±9.4) minutes, indwelling time is 2~43(12.1±6.9) day,and complications number was 11.Conclusion Improved midline catheters have higher success rate, less complications, better comfort and satisfaction for patients, therefore,it is worthy of promotion in patients with parenteral nutrition.
