摘要
本研究基于语料库对比分析,以不定代词的使用为例,探讨我国英语二语学习者学术写作中语义概括性的发展特征。与期刊作者语料的对比分析结果显示,二语学习者语义概括性标示词总体使用过度,合理概括化使用比例相对较低。本科生、硕士生、博士生阶段的语义概括性使用呈现递减发展趋势,本科生阶段语义概括性标示词使用最多,硕士生阶段大幅度下降,博士生阶段较为接近期刊作者的使用情况。就具体类别而言,整体性概括持续减少,个体性概括不断增多,部分性概括呈现起伏变化。研究揭示了二语社会化进程中语义概括性波动式下降的规律性特征。
Through corpus-based analysis of indefinite pronoun use, this study explores the developmental features of semantic generalizations in L2 academic writing by Chinese English learners. The results show that L2 learners' writing has more semantic generalization markers and a relatively smaller proportion of qualified generalizations when compared with that of journal article writers. L2 learners' writing exhibits a progressive decrease in the frequency of semantic generalizations in three phases of education: undergraduates use the most semantic generalization markers, master students dramatically reduce the frequency of them, and PhD students have many similarities with journal article writers in the use of them. In terms of categories, total generalizations keep declining in frequency, individual generalizations keep increasing, and partial generalizations fluctuate. The study demonstrates an overall decrease of semantic generalizations with fluctuations in the process of L2 socialization.
