This paper introduced the research progress of anti-tumor effect and related mechanism of polysaccharide, and provide theoretical basis forclinical application of polysaccharide. To analyze and summarize the related literatures on polysaccharides at home and abroad in recent years, and to comprehensively explain the research progress of anti-tumor effects and related mechanisms of polysaccharides. Polysaccharides can be divided into animals, plants, algae, fungi, etc. Most animal polysaccharides can directly exert anti-tumor effects;some plant polysaccharides can exert anti-tumor effects by blocking the cell cycle;algal polysaccharides can exert anti-tumor effects by improving immune function;most fungal polysaccharides can induce apoptosis. Polysaccharides can exert anti-tumor effects by directly inhibiting tumor cell growth, arresting cell cycle, inducing apoptosis, and improving immunity. Moreover, the polysaccharides of plants and animals have the advantages of small toxic and side effects, wide sources, and improved immunity. Therefore, the research and development of polysaccharides is of great significance for the development of future anti-tumor drugs.
