摘要
介绍了矢量量化的基本原理。采用矢量量化方法对分辨率为512×512的数字图像进行了计算机模拟,使由原图像的8 bit/像素降到了0.5bit/像素,同时用硬件实现了矢量量化编码.在硬件实现中,其主要部件采用74S器件,用绝对值减法器作为失真运算器以及编码器.与计算机的数据交换采用DMA方式,大大降低了编码时间.完成一幅分辨率为512×512的数字图像的16:1压缩仅需9s时间。
The fundamental principles of vector quantization (VQ) are introduced and its simulation results presented.VQ coding can reduce the original image's 8bit/pel to the reconstructed image's 0.5 bit/pel, the resolution of the image being 512 by 512. At the same time , hardware realization of the VQ encoder has been implemented. The use of 74 S chips and the replacement of distortion computer by absolute subtracter in the circuit allows the time to finish VQ encoding of image to be reduced a great deal. VQ encoding of a 512 by 512 image can be done within 9 seconds, with a data compres sion ratio of 16:1.
