Fluoroquinolone antibiotics, the third generation of quinolones, are widely used in medical and breeding industry.Because fluoroquinolone antibiotics are widely used and easy to be adsorbed, the concentrations of fluoroquinolone antibiotics in environment are relatively high.Accumulation of fluoroquinolones in the environment threats human health potentially,as well as affecting plant growth, soil respiration and nitrification. At present, some progress has been made in the research on treatment techniques of adsorption, photocatalysis, oxidant oxidation, compost degradation, microbial enzyme degradation, and etc.The removal rate of microbial degradation, photocatalysis and chemical oxidation is relatively high, and the toxicity of degradation products is low,but the future research on actual application to sewage treatment is needed. In this paper, the distribution, sources, ecotoxicity characteristics and treatment techniques of typical fluoroquinolone antibiotics in the environment were analyzed and summarized, and the future research directions were prospected.
