The conception of Anthropocene has raised to reflect the fact that human activities have already changed landscapes of the Earth dramatically. Therefor, the studies of human-earth relationship have becoming the key issue for all the countries. The city is a place to epitomize the human-earth relationship, so that how to preserve and reuse its abandoned industrial heritage has become one of the most important subjects for urban regeneration. In this paper we try to discuss the methods and approaches of abandoned railway and its surrounding "grey space" under the guidance of the ecological urbanism with the case study of the "Wuchang Ecological Cultural Corridor Project". The project has integrated the ecological urbanism ideology into planning strategies, re-plan, re-build and regenerate the urban open spaces along the abandoned "Wu-jiu" railway line in Wuchang based on the strategies of sewing urban functions, building ecological web and linking transport systems. The project positively regenerates a three-dimensional ecological-cultural-belt with multi-scale, multilevel and multi-function in the core of Wuhan city, in order to implement its transformation from "grey place to green space". This practice might provide a new option for solving the problems coming with those abandoned urban infrastructures in the cities.
