Today’s Mount Longduo was called Mount Qingshi in the Han and Tang dynasties when the northwest of the mountain was connected with Jiujie Ridge(now called Jiuling Ridge). The name of Mount Longduo was given in the Tang dynasty and became popular for the publishing of the prose Record of Mount Longduo written by Sun Qiao. The mountain was located in Qingshi County(Today’s Qingshiba Village in Tongnan County)in the Northern Song Dynasty and was divided into Xiaoxi County in the Yuan Dynasty.Along with the change of administrative division, the name of Mount Qingshi was gradually forgotten.Due to the negligence of local geography, the two mountain names were separately recorded in the historical documents since the Song dynasty, making Mount Qingshi a vague concept.During the Qin and Han dynasties, boundary conflicts occurred between Ba Prefecture and Shu Prefecture around Mount Qingshi;that’s the reason why the mountain became the central boundary between Ba and Shu and later became the boundary between Suizhou and Hezhou in the Tang and Song dynasties.
