摘要
欧洲人具有嗜甜的传统,蔗糖在欧洲人早期社会生活和经济发展中占有重要地位。19世纪初期,拿破仑推行的“大陆封锁政策”使欧洲大陆的蔗糖经济和人民生活遭受严重影响,蔗糖极度短缺,糖价暴涨。欧洲人面对蔗糖缺乏的情况,开始寻求蔗糖的替代品--甜菜来发展制糖业并一度取得成功。甜菜制糖业的兴起在一定程度上弥补了欧洲蔗糖缺乏的局面,推动了全球甜菜制糖业的发展与繁荣。
European people like sweets and sucrose played an important role in the early social life and economic development of Europeans.In the early 19th century,Napoleon’s continental blockade policy had seriously affected the sugar economy and people’s life in Europe,which had made the sugar extremely short and the price soar.Faced with the situation,Europeans found beet as the substitute of sucrose to develop the sugar industry,which was ever successful and had made up for the lack of sugar in Europe to some extent,therefore,promoted the development and prosperity of sugar industry in the world.
