Objective:To observe the effects of wrist-ankle acupuncture on analgesia in patients with transscleral cyclophotocoagulation during intraoperative and postoperative, and investigate the clinical efficacy of the wrist-ankle acupuncture on intraoperative and postoperative pain of refractory glaucoma. Methods:This study selected 56 patients with refractory glaucoma admitted in Eye Hospital,China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences from December 2016 to December 2017.They were randomly divided into two groups:the control group and the wrist-ankle acupuncture group.Conventional transscleral cyclophotocoagulation was performed in both groups. The control group received no special treatment. The wrist-ankle acupuncture group received wrist-acupuncture therapy. The difference in intraocular pressure and sensation of pain was compared between the two groups. Results:There were no significant differences in the parameters of the control group and the wrist-ankle acupuncture group before treatment. The sensation of pain in the wrist-ankle acupuncture group was significantly lower than that of the control group during the transscleral cyclophotocoagulation,2 weeks and 1 month after the surgery (P<0.05).There was no adverse reactions occurred in all patients. Conclusion:Prolonged wrist-ankle acupuncture therapy is beneficial to relieve the sensation of pain in patients with transscleral cyclophotocoagulation.
