Objective:To observe the long-term efficacy and prognosis of acupuncture in patients with allergic rhinitis(AR),and to summarize the effects of acupuncture. Methods:One hundred and eight patients with AR who had completed 10 acupuncture treatments were enrolled, then received a one-year follow-up via telephone and online platform(email or WeChat questionnaire). The rhinitis symptoms score,VAS score, and RQLQ score were evaluated for 4 times(3,6,9,12 months after treatment respectively),and medical conditions were recorded. Results:At different times in the year after the end of the acupuncture treatment, the rhinitis symptoms score,VAS score, and RQLQ score were reduced compared to the score before treatment(P<0.01),the overall score was the lowest at 3 months after treatment.Besides, all patients reduced relative drug use. Conclusion:The therapeutic effect of acupuncture on AR can last for at least 12 months, and the instant effect is the best after the end of treatment. No differences are found when compared with 3 months after treatment.Acupuncture can relieve patients’clinical symptoms and improve their quality of life effectively,as well as reduce the recurrence rate of clinical symptoms.
