摘要
奥林匹克数学是一门特殊的数学教育课程.人们对奥数的理解存在一些误区,并非每一个学生都适合学习奥数,学习奥数的目的也不是为了获奖,奥数优胜者更不一定会成为数学家.奥数是数学资优生教育的重要方式,也是选拔科学研究人才的有效手段.尽管奥数有不菲的教育价值,但是奥数也有一定的教育局限.奥数教育的对象、内容、时间都不可过度,奥数教育应充分重视数学思维能力的培养,数学资优生的教育不应仅限于奥数,大学数学预科课程也应成为资优生的重要选择,奥数优胜选手的高等教育一定要因材施教.
Mathematical Olympiads entail a special kind of mathematics education curriculum.There are some myths with respect to Mathematical Olympiads.For example,not every student needs or is suited to Mathematical Olympiads.The goal of Mathematical Olympiads is not necessarily winning prizes.High performers in Mathematical Olympiads are not necessarily going to become research mathematicians.Mathematical Olympiads are an important approach to nurture mathematically talented students,but they also serve as an effective means to identify those with potential and talent in scientific research.Although Mathematical Olympiads have important educational value,they also have limitations.The content and the time dedicated to preparing for Mathematical Olympiads should not be excessive.Instead,the focus of preparing for Mathematical Olympiads should be on the students’development of mathematical thinking.In addition,mathematically gifted students should not be limited to just learning mathematics for Mathematical Olympiads.Instead,some college-level mathematics courses should also be an important option for mathematically gifted students.In addition,the higher performers in Mathematical Olympiads should be placed into appropriate college-level mathematics courses based on their prior mathematics knowledge and thinking when they enter college.
