摘要
本研究通过田野调查和深度访谈的研究方法,以在北京的住家家政工为例,探讨以大型家政公司为代表的商业化机构如何界定雇主—家政工关系、塑造家政工的职业情感规则以及这些商业化的规则如何在家政工的劳动实践中被挑战和修改。研究发现,商业机构通过把自己打造成家政工的"娘家",强化雇主—家政工之间的"外人"关系,并要求家政工在此基础上将"家人"情感进行工具化使用,以满足工作的需要。然而,家政劳动作为在私人家庭中进行、高度卷入私人生活的劳动类型,家政工往往难以避免地卷入雇主家庭关系中,甚至发展出与雇主的私人关系,使关系处理变得更为复杂不确定。本研究的发现将为讨论涉及情感劳动的服务中的顾客—服务者关系及其复杂性提供启示。
Drawing on fieldwork and in-depth interviews with live-in paid care-workers in Beijing about their experiences,this article questions how large for-profit domestic-work agencies intend to shape client-worker relationships by enforcing upon domestic workers rules of empathy that would meet certain professional standards. These rules are,however,challenged and modified in the daily practices of care-workers in the homes of their clients. The article argues that when a for-profit agency attempts to present itself to domestic workers as their’niang jia(natal family)’,and requires domestic workers to apply emotions associated with kinships in caregiving,while maintaining an outsider status in the client’s home. While this agency tries to enforce a style of client-worker relationship efficient in this commercialized market,domestic work is,however,performed in private homes and is highly intertwined with private life. Homecare workers are often drawn into relationships between clients’ family members and even sometimes develop personal relationships with clients,which can further complicate homecare workers’ emotional labor practices. The findings will shed light on the complexity of clientworker relationships in homecare work that can involve intense emotions and body contacts.
