摘要
人们对新疾病的认识要经历一个过程,因而新疾病的名称往往会出现“混乱”,其译名自然也会出现“一对多”“多对一”“语义不对等”的现象。翻译目的论认为翻译目的决定翻译的整个过程,翻译目的不同会导致译名的不同,这很好地解释了以上翻译现象的合理性。以翻译目的论为指导,医学新词翻译特点是“一词多译”“指称相同优于语义对等”;相应策略为:翻译时,适当地放宽语义忠实的度,译文评价时,主要审判译文是否实现了翻译目的,而不仅仅取决于语义是否对等。
Since it takes time to know about a new disease,different terms will be used to name it.Accordingly,the translation of the new disease will appear“one for many”“many for one”“semantic inequality”.Skopos theory,which believes translation purpose determines the whole process of translation,well explains the reasonability of the above translation phenomena.Under the guidance of Skopos theory,the translation of new medical terms is characterized by“multiple translations for one term”and“same reference is superior to semantic equivalence”.The corresponding translation strategies are:flexibility of faithfulness should be taken into account when translating;and the translation quality should be mainly based on whether it has achieved the purpose instead of whether it is semantically equivalent to the source term.
