摘要
《教务杂志》通过刊载大量儒学研究论文及儒学典籍的英译文,深入探讨儒家文化及孔子思想。连载于《教务杂志》的赫真信英译《孔子家语》系英语世界最早的英译文,通过学术性序言、阐释性注释以及显性化译文等翻译策略凸显了孔子的伦理道德典型、博学多才的智者以及循循善诱的师者形象,向西方世界展示了儒家文化和孔子形象,不仅对儒家文化和孔子形象建构和传播具有重要意义,而且为西方世界读者认知中国早期社会文化历史图景提供了资源和例证。
The Chinese Recorder published numbers of articles on Confucianism and English translations of Confucian classics,and conducted in-depth discussion of Confucian thought and Confucian culture.The English translation of The Family Sayings of Confucius by Hutchinson,serialized in The Chinese Recorder,is the earliest English translation in the world.This translation highlights the image of Confucius’ethical and moral model,the learned Confucian,and the great instructor through translation strategies such as the academic preamble,explanatory notes,and explicit translation.This translation illustrates the image of Confucius and Confucian culture to the Western world,which is not only of great significance to the construction and dissemination of the image of Confucius and Confucian culture,but also provides resources and examples for Western world readers to learn the early social and cultural history of China.
