The present study was conducted to determine the optimum feeding frequency of Procambarus clarkii in the juvenile stage.300 healthy crayfish were randomly assigned to four feeding frequencies(1,2,3 and 4 times/d)and hand-fed with a commercial diet containing 32%crude protein and 6%lipid.Each feeding frequency was tested randomly in three replicates.Muscle content and growth performance were measured in the end of the 6 weeks'feeding trial. The results showed that the meat content of crayfish increased with the increase of feeding frequency, the meat content of 3 times/d and 4 times/d was significantly higher than that of 1 times/d(P<0.05).When the crayfish was fed 2 times/d,the weight, weight gain rate(WG)and specific growth rate(SGR)reached the maximum, which were decreased with the feeding frequency continue to increase while the feed coefficient was the opposite result. In conclusion, feeding frequency could significantly affect the growth of Procambarus clarkii, and the optimal feeding frequency was 2 times/d.
