The Ancient Tea-horse Trail is an ancient transportation network distributed in southwest China, which had existed for thousands of years.Since the Tang and Song Dynasties, the Tibetan residents in the Tibetan area were highly dependent on tea because of their meat diet. The southwest Sichuan and Yunnan region also had a large demand for excellent horses and fur in the Tibetan area. Therefore, tea and horses were the core commodities of the trade road for a long time.In the 1990s,Mu jihong,Li Xu,Chen Baoya and other scholars named"the Ancient Tea-horse Trail",which officially opened the prelude of the research on the Ancient Tea-horse Trail. The research on the Ancient Tea-horse Trail has a history of 30 years, and a large number of excellent achievements mainly focus on its related concepts, routes, ethnic exchanges, commercial trade, development and protection, tea horse official camp and so on.Although there are many research achievements, literature works account for a high proportion and academic works are relatively few.The research on the Ancient Tea-horse Trail needs to further strengthen the construction of academic teams and academic institutions, and establish a multi-disciplinary and multi-angle research system.
