摘要
语言与翻译研究存在多种范式,不管采用何种范式,研究者都需要面对个人的语言直觉。语言直觉对内省式翻译研究具有重要意义。目前,语料库途径在翻译研究领域也承担着越来越重要的作用。语料库翻译研究借助语料库手段,对翻译现象进行充分观察与描写,并在此基础上对翻译本质进行充分解释。本文开展了对语言直觉与语料库途径的对比分析,尝试为翻译研究提供参考,为语料库翻译学发展提供理论层面的思考。
Language intuition plays a vital role in introspective translation studies.Apart from intuition,corpora data are playing an increasingly important role in translation research.This research presents a contrastive analysis of language intuition and corpus approach in the field of translation studies,trying to shed new light on translation studies and theoretical considerations for the development of corpus translation studies.According to Chomsky,the goal of linguistic theory is to achieve grammatical explanatory adequacy on the basis of adequate observation and description of language,and thus to establish a universal theory of language.The adequate description can lead to the adequate reflection.Within the scope of the research,description should reflect all the regular things.The researcher’s language intuition cannot reflect all the language phenomena within a specific context,and cannot achieve a full description of the research question.Description can focus on the objective reflection of language facts at the micro levels,while explanation can focus on the theoretical clarification of language facts at the macro levels.Adequate explanation of translation facts can help researchers in adequate understanding of the nature of translation.The adequacy of explanation lies in the deep reflections of the translation phenomena,which have the power of generalization from concrete translation phenomena.In order to achieve the three kinds of adequacy,it is necessary to combine the researcher’s personal language intuition with the corpus data.Different types of corpora in translation studies can help the researchers avoid the limitations of personal language intuition approach.With the help of corpora data,researchers can fully observe and describe translation phenomena,thus explore and explain the essence of translation more comprehensively,and avoid the limitations of the traditional translation research based on researchers’ personal intuition.This research introduced parallel and comparable corpora which offer great help for translation studies.The rapid development of corpus technology has provided more and more methods and approaches to translation research.Compared with the traditional approach,the methods used in corpus translation research can be operated scientifically.Corpus translation studies developed quickly these years,from a simple comparable corpus model to a bilingual parallel corpus model,from a simple bilingual parallel corpus to a composite corpus model which combines multilingual parallel corpora with multilingual comparable corpora.Corpus translation studies can discuss different topics on the linguistic,cultural,and cognitive levels,and reflects new advances in the methodologies.The advancement can help the researchers do more comprehensive research on translation which can overcome the personal subjectivity and limitations,and give full play to the personal intuitive function of the researcher.Combining the corpus approaches and personal intuition,researchers can discover more complicated translated language phenomena and facts,and offer full description and explanation for the translation nature.On the basis of systematic and comprehensive observation and description,the researcher s personal language intuition is constantly challenged and it will bring new ideas to the development of translation theories.
