China has taken a major step recently towards reaching its carbon peak and carbon neutrality goals.After elaborate preparation,the long-awaited national carbon market started trading on July 16,2021.A total of over 4.1 million tons of carbon dioxide(CO_(2))emission quotas worth more than 200 million yuan(US$30.9 million)changed hands during the first-day trading,marking a good start for the world’s largest emissions trading system(ETS).
