摘要
世界主义思想可追溯至希腊化时期,它发轫于犬儒派,兴盛于廊下派。如果说犬儒世界主义是反礼法的,那么与犬儒派学脉相连的廊下派却旨在构建世界共同体。廊下派创始人芝诺首先构想了"圣贤城邦",在其中,普天之下的圣贤遵从共同法或自然法,彼此友爱地生活在同一个共同体中。这种普世国家经克律希珀斯的改造以及随后其他廊下派哲人的发展,最终演变为一个以不同程度囊括天下人的、人道或博爱的"宇宙城邦"。廊下派世界主义是对世界实在的一种真实描述,而不是一种乌托邦式的幻想。但它又是不可实现的,同时难为茫茫天下奠定有效的秩序。正因此,廊下派的这份遗产值得关注和反思。
Cosmopolitanism can be traced back to the Hellenistic period,which originates in Cynics and flourishes in Stoics. If Cynic cosmopolitanism is of antinomianism, Stoicism, which is closely related to Cynicism, aims at constructing a world community. Zeno, the founder of the Stoics, first conceives of the"city of sages", in which the sages all over the world follow the common law or natural law, and friendly live in the same community.After the transformation of Chrysippus and the subsequent development of other Stoic philosophers, this universal state finally evolves into the humane or philanthropic"cosmos-city"that can cover all the people of the world in varying degrees. The Stoic cosmopolitanism is a true description of the reality of the world, rather than a utopian fantasy. However, it is also impossible to achieve, and difficult to lay an effective order in the vast world. Hence,the legacy of the Stoics is worthy of attention and reflection.
