Diabetic nephropathy(DN) is the main cause of end-stage kidney disease and an independent risk factor for cardiovascular disease, which seriously affects human health. Relieving and treating DN have become an important direction of current research in end-stage kidney disease. Adipose-derived stem cells(ADSCs) are adult stem cells from adipose tissue. The exosomes secreted from ADSCs transmit proteins,mRNAs and miRNAs between various cells, relieve the development of DN by regulating the immune response, promoting autophagy, suppressing apoptosis, and alleviating the epithelial-interstitial transition process of foot cells. Therefore, ADSCs exosomes have shown broad application prospects in DN therapy. This paper mainly reviews and discusses the protective effect and mechanism of ADSCs exosomes in DN.
