【Objective】Based on the typical subtropical hilly region of Fusui county, Guangxi, the temporal and spatial variation of cultivated soil pH and its main driving factors from 1980 to 2020 were investigated, which provided theoretical basis for improving the quality of cultivated land, improving crop yield and realizing sustainable land use in China.【Method】Based on the second soil survey in 1980 and cultivated land soil monitoring data in 2020 in Fusui county, Guangxi, the effects of slope, elevation, soil type, soil parent material and organic content on the change of cultivated land soil pH were analyzed, and the main driving factors influencing the change of cultivated land soil pH were explored by using variance analysis and regression analysis. 【Result】Compared with 1980,the site conditions of Qujiu town and Quli town in the western part of Fusui county were worse in 2020,and the soil acidification trend of cultivated land was obvious. The pH value decreased by 1.1 and 0.7,respectively, and changed from neutral to acidic. Among different soil types, the pH of lateritic soil decreased by 0.6 on average, and the variation was the largest. Among different parent materials, quaternary red earth and river alluvial materia had the strongest pH variability, with a variation range of 0.4. The results of linear regression analysis showed that slope and elevation were significantly negatively correlated with soil pH(P<0.01,the same as below),and organic matter content was significantly positively correlated with soil pH. The results of ANOVA and regression analysis showed that elevation, slope and organic content were the important factors affecting soil pH,and could independently explain the spatial variation of soil pH in 21.5%,7.3% and 3.7% of cultivated land, respectively. Therefore, it could be concluded that elevation was the main factor causing the spatial difference of soil pH.【Conclusion】From 1980 to 2020,the pH of cultivated soil in Fusui county of Guangxi decreased rapidly on the whole. Among them, the pH of lateritic soil decreased the most, and the spatial variation of soil pH of quaternary laterite and fluvial alluvial soil was the strongest. Elevation was the main factor affecting the change of soil pH. Therefore, it was necessary to improve soil properties by increasing organic fertilizer,so as to effectively regulate soil pH.
