Critical race theory is a theoretical trend in race studies that emerged after the Civil Rights Movement in the United State, through which people of color, mostly black people, deconstruct the white-dominated narrative mode and criticize the widespread systematic racial discrimination in American society. Guided by the liberal view on race, university scholars and grassroots teachers have carried out educational practices, made profound changes to the curriculum content and teaching methods, and achieved partial improvement. On the other hand, under the guidance of the conservative view on race, opponents of this theory have carried out a full range of boycott activities, including academic confrontation, resorting to legal means, raising public opinion storm and organizing on-site protests. In an effort to secure their respective electoral advantages, Republicans and Democrats have fought sharply in recent years over critical race theory education. The debate over the extension and abolition of the education on critical race theory reflects the chronic problems of racial division, class consolidation and party polarization in the United States, highlighting the structural dilemma of American society.
