As a class of highly diversified arthopods in Palaeozoic seas,non-trilobite artiopods are easily recognizable because of their non-or weakly biomineralized exoskeletons. With similar exoskeletons and appendages to trilobites, the most familiar members of artiopods, they have important implications for studying the origin and evolution of arthropod’s body structure.Non-trilobite artiopods are mainly found in Cambrian fossil sites known as Konservat-Lagerst?tten,and at least 40species are described in China, one of the most abundant countries yielding this group in the world. Some of these researches are seen as a major landmark in understanding fossil arthropods. This paper discusses and summarizes the research status, methods and existing problems in the study of non-trilobite artiopods in China, and provides an outlook on the potential discovery sites and research directions in the future.
