The contents of lead, cadmium, arsenic, mercury, and copper in Pudilan Xiaoyan Tablets were determined simultaneously by inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry(ICP-MS),and then the safety and health risk of the elements were evaluated. The correlation coefficients of the standard curves of all elements were greater than 0.999,the detection limits were 0.001-0.008 mg/kg,the recoveries were 89.6%-104.6%,and the relative standard deviations of the test results were 0.8%-3.8%(n=6).Multivariate statistical results showed that there were some differences in the contents of heavy metasl among the products from different manufacturers.Safety evaluation results showed that the average single pollution index was As>Cu>Cd>Pb>Hg,and the Nemerow comprehensive pollution index was 0.23-0.82,most of the samples were in safety level. When maximum daily tolerance was used as the evaluation standard, the heavy metal residues in Pudilan Xiaoyan tablets of each manufacturers had no significant impact on human health, but when target hazard quotients(THQ)was used as the evaluation standard, there were certain health risks from As and the total amount of heavy metals. This study can provide a reference for the quality control, safety evaluation, and data support for the formulation of the safety limit standard of Pudilan Xiaoyan Tablets.
