亲社会动机如何影响创业坚持:直觉和环境不确定性的作用 被引量:1

How does Prosocial Motivation Affect Entrepreneurial Persistence: The Role of Intuition andEnvironmental Uncertainty

摘要 社会的前进不仅需要更高的创业活力,更期望创业者的行为决策能造福更多群体。心系他人福祉的亲社会动机作为社会期望的一种重要动机,被视为影响创业者心理状态和行为表现的关键因素,但关于商业创业者亲社会动机与创业坚持的关系探讨相对薄弱。基于动机性信息加工理论和社会认知理论,构建了一个有调节的中介作用模型以探究商业创业者亲社会动机如何对创业坚持产生作用,具体引入直觉这一信息加工方式作为中介变量来解释其影响路径,同时考察环境不确定性对该过程的调节作用。通过对236份商业创业者样本数据进行分析,结果发现亲社会动机对创业坚持的直接效应与间接效应同时存在且受环境不确定性的调节影响,具体而言:(1)亲社会动机对创业坚持具有显著的正向影响;(2)直觉在亲社会动机与创业坚持之间发挥部分中介作用;(3)环境不确定性负向调节亲社会动机与直觉之间的关系,即环境不确定性越高,亲社会动机和直觉之间的正向关系越弱;(4)环境不确定性负向调节直觉在亲社会动机和创业坚持之间的中介效应,即环境不确定性水平越高,直觉在两者之间的间接关系越弱。 The progress of society not only requires higher entrepreneurial vitality,but also expects entrepreneurs'behaviors and decisions to benefit more groups.As an important motivation of social expectation,prosocial motivation of caring for others'well-being profoundly affects entrepreneurs'psychological state and behaviors.However,the research on the relationship between entrepreneurs'prosocial motivation and entrepreneurial persistence is relatively insufficient,especially the relationship between business entrepreneurs'prosocial motivation and entrepreneurial persistence is not yet clear.As a key prerequisite for the survival,development and even success of enterprises,entrepreneurial persistence involves the well-being of partners,employees,customers and other groups.Therefore,it is of great theoretical and practical significance to clarify the relationship,mediating mechanism and boundary conditions between business entrepreneurs'prosocial motivation and entrepreneurial persistence.Based on the theory of motivated information processing model and social cognitive theory,this study constructs a moderated mediation model to explore how business entrepreneurs'prosocial motivation influence entrepreneurial persistence.Specifically,we investigate the mediating role of intuition and the moderating role of environmental uncertainty.Mature scales from authoritative journal papers are selected as the source of the measurement scales of variables in this study.We use questionnaire survey method to collect questionnaires from business entrepreneurs in Tianjin,Anhui,Sichuan,Guangdong and other places.Through strict data screening methods,236 valid questionnaires are retained.And then,we use PROCESS program and Bootstrap method to operate data to test theoretical hypotheses.The results show that the direct and indirect effects of prosocial motivation on entrepreneurial persistence exist simultaneously and the effects are moderated by environmental uncertainty.Specifically:Prosocial motivation has a significant positive impact on entrepreneurial persistence;Intuition plays a part of the mediating role;Environmental uncertainty negatively moderates the relationship between prosocial motivation and intuition,and further negatively moderate the mediating effect of intuition between prosocial motivation and entrepreneurial persistence.The research findings clarify the relationship between prosocial motivation and entrepreneurial persistence.Theoretical advancement about this research is mainly formed in the following aspects:Firstly,it clarifies the relationship between entrepreneurs'prosocial motivation and entrepreneurial persistence,which not only answers Shepherd's(2015)call for expanding the research on prosocial motivation in the field of entrepreneurship,but also promotes the exploration of entre-preneurs' prosocial motivation in the context of commercial entrepreneurship. Secondly, by exploring the mediating role ofintuition, it not only reveals the "black box" of how prosocial motivation affects entrepreneurial persistence, but also enrichesthe prosocial motivation' influencing mechanism researches. Finally, this paper is based on the basic logic of internalfactors and situational factors interaction function, this paper verifies the moderating effect of environmental uncertaintyon the effect of prosocial motivation on entrepreneurial persistence. It reveals the boundary condition of prosocialmotivation affecting entrepreneurial persistence, shows that individual factors of entrepreneurs and the external environmentact on the behavior together.Based on the research results, entrepreneurs in practice should be aware that prosocial motivation is an importantpsychological resource and quality for entrepreneurs' behaviors and decisions. Therefore, entrepreneurs should pay attentionto their prosocial motivation when selecting partners, and strengthen the interaction between entrepreneurs andstakeholders in daily work to stimulate prosocial motivation. Secondly, entrepreneurs should recognize the importance ofinformation processing methods and appropriately use intuition to judge external information. Finally, environmentaluncertainty is an important contingency factor for entrepreneurial persistence. Government should create a favorable environmentfor entrepreneurship, and entrepreneurs should also remain alert to the external environment and keenly aware ofchanges in industry dynamics and customer needs.
