Within the demographic of urban registered residents, the Hukou conversion cohort originates from rural districts and has subsequently acquired urban residency status.Following their socio-economic ascension, they have achieved a higher social standing and have cultivated a robust entrepreneurial ethos.Utilizing data from the"China Education Panel Survey"(2014-2015),this study conducts a comparative analysis of the educational achievements between children of Hukou conversion families and those from established urban families, unraveling the mechanisms underlying the observed educational advantages. The evidence suggests that children from Hukou conversion families outperform their urban and migrant counterparts academically. This edge is primarily ascribed to their parents'distinctive approach of harboring"higher expectations and increased investment"in education, traits which are selectively prevalent among this group.More precisely, the transmission of high-class status outcomes is largely effected through capital investment, whereas the propagation of entrepreneurial spirit's academic benefits predominantly operates through educational expectations. This research underscores the propensity of Hukou converters to bequeath the dividends of their upward mobility to their offspring. It accentuates the critical influence of parents'entrepreneurial spirit on the educational prospects of their children, highlighting its significance as a catalyst for academic success.
