Dounan manganese ore belt is an important manganese ore-forming belt in the southeastern region of Yunnan. Its geographical location basically overlaps with Mingsu fault(S-shaped fault). There are a number of large and medium-sized manganese deposits distributed on the ore-forming belt, such as Yanzijiao,Dounan,Daqing,Laowu and Longtan.Previous studies on S-shaped fault have been limited with only an analysis and evaluation of the ore-forming mechanism of manganese deposits.Through conducting mineral geological surveys in the Dounan manganese mine area of Pingyuan,as well as geological and geophysical surveys in the dam core area,we have combined with research and analysis of relevant data on the fault zone.It is believed that the S shaped fault may not be a substantial contemporaneous fault in different regional positions, but rather a trace of a thrust fault. There may be local overlapping of thrust faults and contemporaneous faults on the surface. At the same time, combined with some new insights from work, this paper summarizes and discusses the geological conditions for deep mineralization of manganese deposits. We are hoping to provide valuable references for the research and exploration of manganese deposits in the local area.
