Based on the population census and spatial big data of Chengdu and the framework of"evolution mode, interaction mechanism, and planning response",the space-temporal evolution characteristics and patterns of the elderly population in Chengdu are analyzed through GIS and K-means clustering. From the three dimensions of accessibility, viability, and sustainability, the interactive relationship between the built environment and the distribution of the elderly population is explored. The research results indicate that:(1)from 2010 to 2020,Chengdu has been gradually transitioning from a mild aging to a severe aging population structure. The spatial pattern of the aging coefficient exhibits a U-shaped distribution trend, and the distribution of the elderly population density demonstrates a circular spatial structure of"high in the center and low on the periphery".(2)The space-temporal evolution of the elderly population can be categorized into four types of patterns:residual aging, agglomeration aging, natural aging, and agglomeration stability. They exhibit spatial distribution patterns characterized by urban and rural end agglomeration, central clusters, overall scattering, and intermediate nested circles.(3)The built environment indicators, including bus stops, medical facilities, and the density of markets and parks, are closely related to the distribution of the elderly population.
