摘要
发轫于前互联网时代的跨国理论在当前人类数字化生存的背景下有了再度审视的必要,跨国者的网络社会支持获取行为则为其提供了一种视角。研究择取了中国留英学生这一存在着学术张力的跨文化群体,以“信息饱和”为原则招募了63名留英学生及其家长、教师、朋友等10位相关人士进行半结构访谈。研究发现了四类留学方式影响下学子获取网络社会支持的平台使用策略。第一类学子以获取学位回国发展为目标,国内平台使用呈现出广泛而精细的状态,国外平台则是基础和粗放式的。第二类学子抱持体验型心态,在国内平台上保持必要联系,将国外平台视为外国文化的组成部分进行广泛接触,但卷入度相对有限。第三类学子以融入英国为目标,转而将国外平台作为网络支持主阵地。第四类学子为留学多年后因故回流至国内者,使用国内平台获取支持时表现出探索性、功能性和反思性特点,国外平台使用则出现适度简化及较多获取国内信息的回返式状态。基于上述发现,研究提出“数字跨国”概念,更新了跨国理论的概念范畴,指出数字跨国场域正由传统二维实景转变为虚实结合的多元空间,并将跨国媒介实践的整体性认知发展为既有共同路线、亦有以关系为核心的异质化行动。
Traditional theories of transnationalism,which emerged before the internet era,need re-examination in the context of current digitalized existence.This study explores the acquisition of online social support by transnational individuals,focusing on Chinese students in the UK,which is a cross-cultural group facing significant academic pressures.Following the principle of"information saturation,"the study conducted semi-structured interviews with 63 Chinese students and 10 related individuals,including their parents,teachers,and friends.The research identified four strategies for using online platforms to obtain social support,influenced by different study abroad objectives.The first group aims at returning to China.These students extensively and meticulously use domestic platforms,while their engagement with foreign platforms is basic and broad.The second group adopts an experiential mindset.These students maintain necessary connections on domestic platforms while broadly engaging with foreign platforms as part of their cultural experience,albeit with limited involvement.The third group aims at integrating into British Society.This group primarily uses foreign platforms for online support.The fourth group return to China after extended study abroad.These students exhibit exploratory,functional,and reflective characteristics when using domestic platforms for support,with simplified use of foreign platforms and a tendency to revert to domestic information.Based on these findings,the study proposes the concept of"Digital Transnationalism,"updating the framework of transnational theory.It suggests that the digital transnational field is evolving from a traditional two-dimensional reality to a multi-dimensional space that combines virtual and real elements,with transnational media practices evolving into both common pathways and relationship-centered heterogeneous action plans.
