摘要
本文依据文化间际语用学的文化模式理论框架,基于中国英语学习者笔语语料库(WECCL)和英语本族语大学生书面语篇语料库(LOCNESS/NESSIE,简称LONE),对中美大学生书面语篇使用的高频认知态度类动词的语用特征进行对比分析,进而阐释其背后的成因。研究发现:中美大学生书面语篇中高频使用的认知态度类动词具有显著差异,中国大学生存在使用过度和使用不足两种特征,其根本原因在于受英汉文化模式差异的影响,尤其汉语文化模式的认知框架或模板是影响英语学习者语言行为的根本原因。
This paper aims to make a causal analysis of the pragmatic features in the use of high-frequency cognitive attitude verbs by Chinese college English learners in their written discourses in reference to American college students based on the WECCL and LOCNESS/NESSIE(LONE for short)corpora from the cultural model-based approach in intercultural pragmatics.The results reveal that the most frequently used cognitive attitude verbs in the WECCL and LONE corpora differ significantly in that the overuse and underuse of these verbs and their commonly used quasi-formulaic expressions are found to be the most prominent pragmatic features manifested in the WECCL corpus in contrast to the LONE corpora.The findings suggest that the salient differences underlying the pragmatic features are largely attributed to the different Chinese and English cultural models.More importantly,the cognitive frame or template in the Chinese cultural model is the primary cause which affects the language performances of Chinese English learners.
