Having long been held as spokesman of the Beat culture/literature which began exerting its influence in the 1950s and on to the present, Ginsberg embarked on the American literary stage as an angry outsider but gradually found himself accepted by the mainstream society and consequently became a respectable member of the society against which he had so severely protested. The aim of this article is to examine the inter relationships between Ginsberg and the mood of the American society in 1950s and 1960s and then demonstrate that Ginsberg tactfully employed the means of mass media and formed an interactive relationship with the public mood and finally achieved a win win effect.
