This paper introduces the principle of the electronic toll collection (ETC) system including ETC land equipment sub system and fee clearing sub system of background operation. According to the current status of domestic expressway administration system and traffic jam on main line tollgate, the solution of ETC system expressway network toll in the present stage is described.
