The sea is the cradle of life on Earth. As Rachel Carson,a marine biologist and representative of modem environmental movement, says in her book,The Sea Around Us,that the sea, just like running rivers,is the wigin and destination of all things on earth, connected as whole and accounting for 70%the surface area of the earth, the sea is the largest ecosystem on Earth. The sea serves as a regulator of global environment. It provides 70%of the oxygen in the atmosphoe, its CO2 content is 61 times taofthe atmosphere and it is a huge carbon pool.4.5 million cubic kilometers of fresh water is evaporated from the sea each year and 90%of tbe evaporated amount falls to the land and into the sea in the way of rainfalls. The sea also has a very strong purifying capacity and can decompose and eliminate some hairnfiil matters.
