摘要
吴友如因《点石斋画报》而知名。他早年在苏州学习具有洋画风格的民间绘画,掌握了表现透视空间的手法与描绘社会时事的能力。但这两方面并不符合传统中国绘画理想,他的"画工"身份不为当时上海书画界所认可,他晚年也感慨自己在画报上发表的作品过于"时尚",即欠缺在时间中的长久流传。这也促使他最终放弃画报事业,开始创作、出版《飞影阁画册》,以实现成为"名家"的理想。题材趋古,用笔也有变化,但终未能跻身于排斥流俗、推崇古法的晚清海派名家之列。而他为后世所铭记的,还是他那些"时尚"而"现代"的作品。
Wu Youru is known for working for Dianshizai Pictorial. Due to his learning experience from folk art of western painting style, he grasped linear perspective skills and ability to depict contemporary society. However, it then didn't win him fame and acceptance from Shanghai calligraphers and painters because he is a mere artistic artisan. He lamented later in his life that the works he published in Dianshizhai Pictorial were too“fashionable”lacking long time circulating to next generations. It was this reason he resigned from this publishing house. Then he built from scratch a new pictorial publishing house, the FeiyinggeAlbum , to fullfil his dream to becoming a famous artist. He at last could not join in the famous Haipai artist group who favored traditional laws and excluded popular fashions. However, the works of Wu Youru kept in mind of later generations are those which are fashionable thus modern.
