Objective Through analyzing the status of maternal and infant health literacy and its influencing factors in pregnant women in Lanzhou City,to provide the basis for preventing and reducing the incidence of maternal and infant diseases.Ultimately,to improve the health of maternal and infant by formulating and implementing active and effective intervention measures. Methods Questionnaire was designed to conduct a survey on pregnant women who set up card and planned hospital delivery in Maternal and Child Health(MCH)Clinic in Gansu Province from January to April 2017.Results The survey found that the correct rate of maternal and infant basic knowledge in maternal and infant health literacy assessment was 48.04%and the correct rate of infants and toddlers was 36.25%.Among them, the third trimester pregnant women’s awareness of various parts of maternal and infant health literacy was significantly higher than that of early pregnancy and second trimester. With pregnancies progressed to later stages, pregnant women’s awareness of maternal and infant health literacy in general showed an upward trend in various aspects. It was also found that the awareness rate of maternal and infant basic knowledge was clearly high in this surveyed population. In contrast, the awareness rate of biologically-oriented infant’s knowledge was the worst. The main influencing factors in this group are gestational age, annual income, educational level and pregnant age.Among them, the income and educational levels are the main reasons that limit the awareness of maternal and infant health literacy. Conclusion The level of maternal and infant health literacy of pregnant women in Lanzhou is low as a whole. There are differences in the awareness of different parts of maternal and infant health literacy,as well as in different stages of pregnancy, among pregnant women. It is necessary to carry out a comprehensive health literacy education and to establish targeted education Intervention programs for pregnant women in order to further improve the health of the population and to prevent related pregnancy diseases.
