本文是对《新世纪汉英大词典》编纂的回顾性总结 ,从条目的收录、设立、编排、‘释义’、例证、符号使用等方面阐述了该词典“读者第一 ,注重实用”的编纂思想。
This essay is a retrospective summary of the compilation of A New Century Chinese-English Dictionary. It expounds the dictionary's compiling guidelines of “Readers' first and an emphasis on practicality” in terms of its entry coverage, entry order, ‘explanations', illustrative examples, inclusion of measure words for many common nouns and use of symbols.
