日本早在 16世纪中叶就从西方吸收外来语 (主要是指从欧美各语言中吸收到日语里的词汇 )。外来语引入伊始一度采用汉字、平假名、片假名来书写 ,很混乱 ,直到二战后才统一为片假名 。
Japanese began to absorb foreign words from the West early in the middle of 16th century. These foreign Words mainly referred to the vocabulary which were absorbed from European and American English. After foreign words were absorbed into Japanese, which brought much confasion, some were written in Chinese, some in Hiragana and some in Katakana. Until after World War Ⅱ, the writing of foreign words in Japanese were uniformed as Katakana. National Language Consideration Committee had made rules about the transformation from letter to Katakana.
