The coupling region consists of a series of bilateral E-plane slots deposited on the dielectric substrate, which are manufactured with the photo-etching technique. Computer-optimized design is based on the modified generalized transmission parameters which consider the thickness effects of the strips and higher-order mode interactions at the step discontinuities in the coupling region. The calculated performances of a 3-dB 12-slot directional couplers at Ka-band are given. An experimental sample is fabricated.展开更多

Two shorting planes are placed at some distances away from the discontinuity so as to form a closed resonator. According to the resonant condition, the equivalent circuit parameters for the discontinuity are expressed in terms of the distances between the shorting planes and the reference planes. The distances, in turn, are determined with the singular integral equation technique. A set of curves of the equivalent circuit parameters for the discontinuities are given. Based on the present analysis, the bandpass filters composed of unilateral and bilateral E-plane fin septa are designed and fabricated at Ka-band. The experimental results agree well with the theoretical predictions.展开更多
