Methods: Electro-acupuncture was added for patients undergoing chemotherapy. Tests were done on T cell subpopulations, NK activity, humoral immunity and leukocyte count before treatment and after 4 courses of treatment. Results: After 4 courses of treatment with chemotherapy and electro-acupuncture, no obvious changes were found in T cell subpopulations, NK activity, humoral immunity and leukocyte count (P > 0.05) as compared with those before treatment. Patients undergoing chemotherapy combined with electro-acupuncture showed obviously higher leukocyte count than that of the control group given no leukogenic drugs (P < 0.01). Conclusion: Electro-acupuncture may reduce immunologic damage caused by chemotherapy, thus it can be used as the auxiliary therapy for patients undergoing chemotherapy.展开更多

The acupuncture-drug group was treated with acupuncture on Ganshu (BL 18), Shenshu (BL 23), Taichong (LR 3), Taixi (KI 3), Xinshu (BL 15),Geshu (BL 17), Shenmen (HT 7), and Xuehai (SP 10), combined with oral medication of Liuwei treated with oral prednisone. The clinical therapeutic effects and the impact on AsAb were observed in the two groups. The results showed that the total effective rate in the acupuncture-drug group was 90%;while that of the control group was 64%, the comparison showing a statistically significant difference (P<0.05). The positive rate of blood serum and/or AsAb in both the two groups decreased in varying degrees, but the negative-turning rate of AsAb in the acupuncture-drug group was more obvious, the comparison showing also a significant difference (P<0.05). Conclusion: The combined therapy of acupuncture with herbal drugs has definite therapeutic effects on male immune infertility, which can regulate AsAb and raise the immunity of the patients.展开更多

Methods: According to the consulting order, the patients were randomly divided into a treatment group (29 cases treated with electro-acupuncture), and a control group (28 cases treated with simple acupuncture). 20 treatments were given to patients in both groups. Results: The markedly effective rate of the treatment group was 75% and that of the control group was 61.54% (P<0.05). Conclusion: Electro-acupuncture has a better therapeutic effect than the simple acupuncture in the treatment of cervical spondylopathy of the vertebroarterial type.展开更多

From Jan. 1994 to Nov. 2001, we treated 72 cases of sciatica by catgut point-embedding therapy and obtained quite good-results. Meanwhile, a control study was made in 47 cases treated by prednisolone block therapy. A report follows.展开更多

In TCM treatment of this disease, physicians through the ages are mostly in favor of the principle of clearing heat and promoting diuresis to treat the superficiality, and tonifying the kidney to treat the origin. Most of the hospitals in China are presently using this method to treat stones in the upper urinary tract. Though it is effective for展开更多

The patients in the control group were simply treated with the basic neural medical treatment; while patients in the treatment group were treated by acupuncture and point-injection therapy in addition to the above treatment. Comparisons were made between the two groups in the therapeutic effects by GCS evaluations as well as in the changes of main symptoms. The results showed that the GCS value in the treatment group was higher than that of the control group, but with no statistical significance (P>0.05). However, the main symptoms of the patients in treatment group, such as aphasia, hemiplegia, and injuries of cranial nerves (including injuries of the facial, oculomotor and abducent nerves) were obviously improved, showing significant differences as compared with the control group (P<0.05). Conclusion can be made that acupuncture combined with point-injection has the consciousness-inducing effect for post-traumatic coma, and shows good effects for the cranial nerve injuries and aphasia.展开更多

Methods: 65 cases were randomly divided into a treatment group of 36 cases, and a control group of 29 cases. In the treatment group, a comprehensive treatment with both drugs and acupuncture was given, with the points Jiaji from C1- C4, Taiyang (EX-HN5) and Touwei (ST 8) mainly selected in the acupuncture treatment; while the control group was treated only with drugs. Results: The treatment group and the control group showed a total effective rate of 91.7% and 79.3% respectively, and a curative rate of 58.3% and 44.8% respectively, with significant differences.展开更多

However, along with the therapeutic effects, hormonotherapy can also bring about certain side effects to the human body. In the two years of clinical practice in Germany from 2002-2004, the author of this article had applied acupuncture in replacement of hormonotherapy to treat many diseases, and obtained certain therapeutic effects.
